Cycling in Cornwall

There’s great cycling near to Polmark Beach Cottages to suit everyone. One of the best and most popular places is the Camel Trail and there are many other interesting rides around the area.

The Camel Trail

Polmark Beach Cottages are just 2.5 miles from the start of the Camel Trail in Padstow, one of the “most popular cycle trails in the country“. The Camel Trail follows an old railway line along the Padstow estuary, which poet laureate John Betjeman once described as the most beautiful train journey he knew. Further upstream it follows the wooded valleys of the Camel Valley.

The Cornwall Council leaflet contains more information on the trail.

Other Bike Routes

The coast around the Polmark is rugged and scenic, and the coast road and lanes provide excellent views and a very relaxing way to meander between villages and bays. Try visiting the seven beaches within 3.5 miles of the Polmark. Or if you feel a little more adventurous we are only a mile from National Route 32 with easy access to Newquay and Truro.

There is a more comprehensive list of cycle trails in Cornwall on Sustran’s website.
