The latest addition to our cottages is Polmark House. Polmark dates from the 1920s and in contrast to our modern cottages is an elegant 1920s country house. It’s original construction was as a coastal retreat for a wealthy London solicitor, and the elgance of the era can still be seen in its oak panelled rooms and traditional Cornish slate construction.

This picture was taken at a windswept Doom Bar early on Sunday morning. It was taken from the cliff path at Stepper Point, just 2 miles from our cottages. Famous for the beer, named after it and brewed just across the estuary near Rock, the sand bar in the Camel Estuary marks a shallow spot in otherwise navigable waters. It also makes a picture postcard shot. On the horizon the hills of Bodmin Moor can just about to be seen, as they are shrouded in mist. Padstow, is hidden on the right hand side of the estuary.
